My Experience with Hair Extensions

I had a hair extensions applied for the first time in June. I have had them a month now and have shared my experience over on my snapchat-lindaryan10. Since then, I have received a lot of messages asking how I a getting on with them, costs, maintenance and if I would recommend them. I know a lot of you have already gone to Red Velvet Hair Salon Malahide to get them applied since I got mine but I thought I would share my experience here and answer any questions I have received so far. I am not an expert but the ladies at Red Velvet Salon most definitely are! This post is just about my experience so if you have questions please contact the salon for further information.

The hair extensions are Russian Bonds which are bonded to the hair at the root. The bond itself is quite small and not noticeable at all.

They took about three hours to apply and I got four packets applied. I had my colour done a couple days before having them applied and used OLAPLEX treatment to deeply condition my hair before getting them applied.

They cost €80 per packet and a consultation with the salon is necessary to determine what you want and how many packets you will need.

You need to use sulphate free shampoo and conditioner. You also need to purchase a special paddle brush to brush through your hair and not damage the bonds. The brush cost €20.

They last about 4-6 months before needing to be removed and re applied if you want.

I found them hard to adjust to for the first week. They took a lot longer to dry and style but once I got used to them I loved them. They did feel a bit heavy and a little bit sore for a couple days after but again I got used to them really quickly. I had mine applied as I lost quite a lot of hair from the front and my hair was really thin and lifeless. I always wanted them but was always afraid they would wreck my hair. My confidence has been amazing since having them and I really have been recommending them to everyone that has asked me. If you are thinking of getting them done I would highly recommend Red Velvet Hair Salon as they are pros! My only regret is not getting them on sooner! 🙂

Have a great day…
